EPITECH – UHA PARTNERSHIP
In the autumn of 2014 Epitech and the University of Haute-Alsace (USA) signed an agreement which defines their common strengths regarding the business world.
For Epitech, the partnership gives its students access to an award-giving diploma in its Masters for Project Management, which is a complementary academic tool to Epitech’s training, and which would take place after the 4th year.
This path is open to all international students on the basis of their applications.
International students will in this way have the opportunity to obtain, in addition to the Epitech title Expert en Technologies de l’Information de l’Epitech (Expert in Information Technology), a Masters in Science Management, specialising in Project Management, from the University of Haute-Alsace.
MASTER OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES, UHA PROJECT MANAGEMENT SPECIALIZATION
PRESENTATION AND OBJECTIVES
This specialization responds to growing needs in the field of training managers able to plan and manage industrial, service and cultural projects. The development of project-based organisation in many companies and public or private organisations requires increased skills in terms of project team leaders.
This speciality requires a pedagogy that emphasizes the use of real-life projects to put learners in situations (learning by doing). To this end, the UHA develops partnerships with companies, regional chambers of commerce and the European Business and Innovation Center Alsace as part of their missions to help create new and innovative activities. The idea is also to create a technology transfer tool in the field of Management on specific fields of expertise. It is a question of building an innovative axis in terms of skills to acquire, exchange and develop management knowledge. To this end, this speciality is of the order of dual competence.
The challenge is to propose an architecture that makes it possible to multiply the profiles of incoming and therefore outgoing students while certifying the Master level to the various targeted professional environments. Technology transfer is the expression of the multiplicity of the offer of profiles in a defined field of skills: project management.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
The skills acquired during the training are, in addition to those of a generalist manager, linked:
- Mastery of project evaluation, planning and management tools
- Leadership, i.e. knowing how to motivate and involve people to make them work together and how to make the best use of their own skills
- Relational skills, because the project manager is the main contact for internal functions but also for customers, suppliers and various partners
- Ability to anticipate and make decisions in random or antagonistic situations
- Understanding markets and technologies
- Project manager in information systems
- Industrial Project Manager
- Project manager in research & development
- Creator of innovative activities
The opportunities are in the following sectors of activity:
- Industrial companies, large or medium-sized
- Commercial companies that have or want to promote international development
- Service companies (banks, consulting firms, international trading companies,...)
- Local authorities, public or semi-public bodies
We find here the necessary skills for the entrepreneur, especially of small or medium size. If we consider that the creation of a company represents a project as such, it is therefore logical to associate this training with entrepreneurship training aimed at training students wishing to create their own activity.
STRUCTURED WITH THE EPITECH CURRICULUM
In order to obtain the UHA Master's degree, in addition to the modules planned for the Epitech diploma, international students must validate the major "Information Systems Management" whose courses will be delivered by UHA professors. The UHA modules will be delivered on the Epitech campus during the second year of Epitech tuition.
CONDITIONS AND TERMS OF ACCESS
The international student interested in this double course must express his interest during the application for the first year at Epitech. Admission to the program is based on a paper selection that must be submitted to Epitech's International Relations Department during the first year of study at Epitech.
Only candidates who have validated the Bachelor's degree in computer science in their country of origin, as well as the dam modules of the first year of Epitech school are eligible.
The final decision to accept the student into the program will be made at the end of the first year of study at Epitech.
PRESENTATION OF THE UHA
The University of Haute-Alsace has nearly 8,000 students: 6,300 students in Mulhouse and 1,700 in Colmar.
The university has a strong professional character because it has always been able to develop active partnerships with socio-economic circles. This translates into a significant number of professional training courses from the DUT to the doctorate, including engineering degrees. It is also strongly supported by local authorities. Thus, the characteristics "proximity and openness" are the two key words of its identity.
Innovative, multidisciplinary, an important player in the construction of the regional higher education and research area, the UHA is a stakeholder in Alsatian excellence.
The University of Haute Alsace is associated with the University of Strasbourg, which means that all degrees have a double mention (unistra and uha).
